JUNET Folks; The beta test version of the new JUNET sendmail rule has been on operation on Tokyo Institute of Technology sub-domain since March 9. We would like to test the hand-made rules on our domain for weeks, strip bugs out, then distribute the new rule to other domains with the generation kit. Some strange routings or mail failures might occur because of the new rules, especially at titcca. We feel sorry for that! To make a better environment, BUG REPORTs are very much appreciated! BUG Report ======> tit-admin@junet If you would like to change your sub-domain name, this is a big-chance. Please let us know about the requirements. The version name of the rule is '6.0Junet'. The major differences from the previous versions are: + multiple domain hieararchy + multiple gateways to outside + separation of 'junet' mailer from 'uucp' mailer. which contributes to handle the 'From' field in uucp format rather than junet format when the destination address is noted in uucp format(a!b!c). + the name of the smtp mailer is not 'ether' anymore. (as you know, we have SL! ... tnx for Rick Adams and koudai..'cs' hackers!) The beta-test version has the following characteristics: + no file is included + no generation kit + titan rather than titech for Tokyo Institute of Technology + bugs might alive in it... The current gateways to outside the JUNET world are: kddlabs from titcca and koudai. from cs domain using koudai gateway, others using titcca. jnglab at CMU from titcca. upshowa at UNIX-Pacific/AT&T from titcca. So, the current possible notation would be: a@b.d. .junet for JUNET sites a@b.arpa a@b.csnet goes to kddlab via titcca. a@b.uucp notation goes to kddlab via titcca. a@b.jeida goes to koccvax via titcca. Use titcca!upshowa!USERNAME for AT&T UNIX-Pacific Use titcca!jnglab!x@y.HOSTNAME.cs.cmu for CMU-CS sites. The beta-version of the rule considers the logical structure shown in the bottom of this mail. (you might see that this is the directory structure of the unix file system, and this directory structure is planned to be input of the new rule generating system.) Here, the name server of a domain level locates in the '@' signed system, and names separated with '#' are synonyms of the domain name. Please note that 'titan' is used for the name of our domain instead of 'titech', because the beta-test version is used only at our domain now. thanks for your cooperations! tit-admin@titan.junet (Jun Murai, on behalf of the group) |-arpa---------- |-csnet--------- | | | | |-@titcca------- | |-beck---------- | |-@cc-----------|-clapton------- | | |-titccb-------- | | | | |-@koudai------- | | |-fukao--------- | | |-hiroko-------- | |-@titech#titan-| |-motoshi------- | | |-cs------------|-naoki--------- | | | |-takashi------- | | | |-takuya-------- | | | |-tomoyo-------- | | | | | | |-@titisa------- | | | |-aki----------- | | |-is------------|-hal----------- | | |-titisb-------- | |-ascii--------- | |-citoh#cds----- | |-csk----------- | |-dec-j--------- |-struct--------| |-fujitsu------- |-junet---------|-hst----------- | |-icot---------- | |-ipa----------- | |-jsd----------- | |-kddlabs------- | |-keio---------- | |-kk------------ | |-kyoto-u------- | |-kyushu-u------ | |-meiosk-------- | |-mri----------- | |-ncc----------- | |-nec----------- | |-ntt----------- | |-osaka-u#handai | |-ricoh--------- | |-sharp--------- | |-shizuoka------ | |-sophia-------- | |-sra----------- | |-tohoku-------- | |-tsuda--------- | |-tsukuba------- | |-u-tokyo#utyo#t | |-uec----------- | |-ulis---------- |-uucp----------
